Supporting the people behind environmental and social change

ECHO Alliance is a U.S.-based nonprofit supporting people and communities working for environmental and social change, with a particular focus on climate and the environment.

We work with local leaders, community groups, and grassroots initiatives in under-resourced and challenging settings. Through training, peer learning, practical support, and public engagement, we help them build their leadership, connect with resources, and sustain their work.

Defender Support & Response

We are developing an initiative to connect environmental and social defenders facing serious pressure with practical support, trusted expertise, and solidarity.

Leadership & Community Resilience

Training, mentorship, peer learning, and connections that help local leaders and communities navigate challenges and sustain their work.

Public Engagement & Campaigns

Storytelling, public education, and collaborative campaigns that amplify underrepresented voices and encourage participation in environmental and social change.

Grounded in Lived Experience. Justice-Driven.

ECHO brings together people with firsthand experience in climate action, civic leadership, and supporting others under pressure.

Our founder, Hong Hoang, led the environmental organization CHANGE in Vietnam before spending 478 days in prison for her activism. Her experience, and the experiences of those building ECHO alongside her, shape our commitment to the people behind change.
